Gears of War 2 Gets Mega Update, Fans Rejoice
If you haven’t traded in your copy of Gears of War 2 listen up. Epic Games has posted the release notes for Title Update 6 on its forum.
The patch includes fixes for several bugs, better host selection, improved hit detection and adds a social Xbox Live mode (known as player matches in Gears of War 1). The ability to create and join player matches will be available only to those who purchased all the DLC for Gears 2. If you missed out on the content, which includes thirteen maps and a deleted chapter from the single player campaign, fear not: Epic has you covered. Call of Duty: Black Ops Teaser Trailer Hits Web
The first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops aired last night on GTTV with Geoff Keighley giving gamers a tantalising glimpse of what to expect come November 9.
The teaser is from the point of view of a captured soldier undergoing torture, apparently having flashbacks of previous missions as he copes with the pain. We are shown a laboratory area with some pliers and other medical instruments visible on a side table – presumably we are looking at the torture room – and a series of brief gameplay snippets flash on screen intermittently like shattered memories. The Guardian Backs Lib Dems For 2010 Election
To some, the day was always coming. The Guardian in an editorial published on its website today, set to appear in tomorrow’s edition of the paper, has announced it now backs Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats in the forthcoming UK general election.
The move will undoubtedly anger some readers. Those who shared the paper’s seemingly unflinching support for Labour’s progressive politics will feel shafted by this change of allegiance, but one gets the sense The Guardian was itching to make this marriage sooner. Read Full
Call of Duty: Black Ops Announced, Coming Nov. 9
Call of Duty fans rejoice! Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War, have unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops. The announcement was accompanied by a dedicated website and the promise of a teaser trailer on tonight’s GTTV with Geoff Keighley on Spike.
Activision, who are publishing the game, have made it clear they want to dominate holiday sales each year with consistent franchise releases. Call of Duty: Black ops does nothing to buck the trend, and is scheduled for release on November 9 2010. Read Full
Bungie Signs 10 Year Contract With Activision
Bungie, the awesome developer behind the Halo franchise, has partnered with Activision, who will publish Bungie IPs for the next ten years.
With this new deal, Activision will soon publish games from the studios behind the two most successful first person shooter franchises in the video game industry, Halo and Call of Duty. Bungie, previously tied into producing exclusives for Microsoft’s Xbox, is likely looking for greater freedom to develop for multiple platforms, with the larger audience that brings them, and the marketing power of a company that took Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to the status of best selling entertainment product of all time, a game that raked in $401 Million in its first 24 hours of release.
